Interstate Knitting

04/04/2016 · In: Hand Dyed Yarn, Yarn

A very quick post today as I’m spending a few days in Sydney for work.

When I travel interstate for work I catch a bus to the airport. It takes just over an hour, so I decided to make the best use of my bus time by winding a freshly dyed skein into a ball.

Unfortunately I don’t travel well in busses, so by the time I got to the airport I thought I was going to die from motion sickness. I did manage to wind the whole ball before I got to the airport but I won’t be trying it again because I think it contributed to my queasiness.

This sock yarn is one I experimented with on the weekend.

The plan was to create a golden Autumn yellow yarn with a little “flash” of deep red and green that travels in a spiral around the sock.image

The green is too bright and the spiral is out of control but I’m in love with the golden pumpkin shade and I want a whole jumper made in this colour.

So I’m going to call this one a success and when I get back home I’m going to add the colour – without the the red and green flashes – to the online shop.

In the mean time I need to work out if there are any yarn shops within walking distance of the Sydney office .
